Zahrah Ektefaei

As a child, Zahrah Ektefaei’s mother told her that “when you get the (Galveston) island sand in your toes, you’ll never leave.” So in 2016, Zahrah and her husband returned to Galveston. Zahrah teaches at her alma mater. She builds community partnerships and challenges students to be better stewards of the island while attempting to instill a sense of pride in the Galveston community.
