WHILE OUR PLAN IS COMPREHENSIVE, AND WE WORK WITH A SENSE OF URGENCY, WE ACT WITHIN OUR MEANS AND PRIORITIZE OUR ACTIONS.

We’re focused on connecting the collective community’s vision for Galveston to the resources to make that vision happen by 2040. With the help and support of our residents, workforce, partners, and funders, we aim to transform Galveston into the best place to live, work, raise a family, and visit for all socioeconomic groups and demographics, young and old.

Our targeted initiatives — Build Galveston, Green Galveston, Incubate Galveston, and Measure Galveston — include comprehensive issues and recommendations from the plan:

• Engage and advocate for attainable housing for Galveston’s workforce, including accessible housing and commercial space. We collaborate in partnership with Build Galveston, our newly-formed Community Development CorporationDeveloping a master green space plan for Galveston’s parks and open spaces.

• Develop a master high-quality green space plan for Galveston’s parks and open spacesContinuing community outreach with the diverse groups across the island to shape our initiatives.

• Design a robust business incubator system in conjunction with universities and businesses in Galveston.

• Engage in community outreach with diverse audiences across the island to help inform and shape our initiatives.

• Support organizations who are working in alignment with our vision to build collective support, capacity, and trust to maximize impact for Galveston.

Our collective impact model channels this power, providing support and collaboration to drive a gradual transformation to safer, more livable neighborhoods and green spaces, affordable housing, equitable access to health care, social services, quality education, healthier environments, and more significant employment opportunities on the island.

We are a strategic, intentional driver of the community’s vision—engaging, connecting, collaborating with, and empowering individual residents, NGOs, grantmakers, business leaders, and government officials to affect change.
