Elizabeth “Liz” torres, mph

Associate Director of the Violence and Injury Prevention Research Center at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston

Liz Torres is a Galveston native with a longstanding commitment to community and public health. She earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin and her Master’s degree from UTHealth Houston.

She has previously served on multiple boards in Galveston, contributing her time and expertise to support local initiatives and community growth.

Liz currently serves as the Associate Director of the Violence and Injury Prevention Research Center and the Center for Violence Prevention at UTHealth Houston, where she leads and supports research and partnerships focused on promoting safety, preventing violence, and strengthening community well-being across Texas.
