This plan will not sit on the shelf — we are mobilizing the citizens of Galveston to build momentum and move forward.

This plan will be conducted in 9 phases over a 9-month period and will include three rounds of outreach.

Timeline

+ Initial Broad Outreach

November

In the initial round of broad outreach, we will get a sense of how islanders feel about their city, what are their concerns and what they would like to see in the future. We will reach people on-line, through surveys, at schools, at social service organizations, at civic clubs, at the beach, at parks, at grocery stores, on the bus, at the library, and through utility bills.

+ Deep Outreach

January

The outreach on proposed vision will be deep outreach. We will share core values with the community and talk about how to achieve them. We will ask for ideas on what Galveston needs to do to achieve its vision. We will have meetings and workshops, interactive activities and tours.

+ Second Broad Outreach

March

In the second round of broad outreach, we will weigh the ideas and identify projects, policies, and programs, as in the initial round of broad outreach, we will reach as many people through multiple channels, getting reactions to the ideas and measuring support.

+ Launch

June
